School Safety

It is time to get serious about keeping America's children and teachers safe at school. More restrictive gun laws are not the answer. The idea that an individual wanting to harm our children would see a "gun/weapon free zone" and turn around, is just not realistic. Most of these terrible incidents are not resolved until the shooter is met with lethal force. Unfortunately, as it stands today, that response is offsite and can take a while to arrive.

We need to increase the number of school resource officers throughout the United States. We need to train teachers who are willing to carry a firearm, and allow them to do so. I also agree with the idea of allowing veterans, following an approval process, to voluntarily provide protection at our schools. With these measures, we could take serious steps forward in protecting our children and teachers, as well as provide jobs for veterans and officers throughout the community.
